Welcome to day 27. Instead of the planned look at other resources I’m going to take a pause today. The reason is that I’m going to funeral of a dearly departed friend and brother in Recovery.

I’ve been to too many funerals and every funeral is a chance to remember and a chance to reflect. Remember the person that has died and our connection with them and the memories we shared and also a chance to reflect on our own lives and even contemplate what people will say about us when were gone from this world.

Whatever your belief system I invite you to take a moment to remember loved ones (family and friends and significant others) that are no longer here. They mattered, their lives mattered and the things they shared with us were special, even though they might have been painful at the time.

Anyway, normal service resumes tomorrow but for today I pray, in the words of the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah will be true for you and me today:

“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future”.

I pray that for us in this life and that it extends for us into the next life too.
